It’s an everyday staple with rice. We love our fish curry n rice :)..Being from coastal belt in India, fish is an integral part of our food diet. This is my Mom's recipe and is made by simply combining the ingredients and simmering it for 30 to 45 minutes to perfection.
It’s also versatile you can use fish, shrimps, crabs or vegetables. I have cooked it in all ways, and it taste delicious :)

- 500 Grams Fish Sliced and Cleaned
- 1 Teaspoon Turmeric Powder
- 2 Teaspoons Cumin Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder
- 2 Onion Medium Sized Paste
- 1.5 Teaspoons Garlic Paste
- 1 Tomato Finely Chopped
- 1 Bunch Coriander finely chopped
- 1 Teaspoon Tamarind Paste
- 3 Tablespoons Mustard Oil
- To Taste Salt
- 1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
Instructions to make Fish Curry... all time fav :)
- Marinate the fish in salt and turmeric powder for 15-20 min. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the fish pieces, drain and keep aside.
- In a bowl, add onion paste, garlic paste and all dry spices like red chilli powder, coriander powder, Cumin powder, little turmeric, mix nicely and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a kadai pan and add mustard seeds for tampering. Then add spice paste and fry till it leaves oil. Add tomatoes, and fry it again for 2-4 min. Add about 1.5 cup water and bring the gravy to a boil.
- Then add tamarind paste and stir. Add the fish slices and cook for 10 minutes in simmer. Once done, garnish with chopped coriander and serve fish curry hot with steamed rice :)
