  1. 500 gms Basa Fish Fillets (you can use pomfret / sole)
  2. 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  3. 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  4. 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  5. 1 tsp Amchoor Powder
  6. 1/2 tsp Pepper Powder, freshly ground
  7. 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  8. 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  9. Salt to Taste
  10. 1-1.5 Cups Semolina / Rava / Suji
  11. 1/4 Cup Refined Oil

Steps to make Rahul's Basa Fry

  1. Wash the fish fillets carefully under running water. Place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the red chilli, turmeric, coriander, pepper and amchoor powders, ginger-garlic paste, salt and lemon juice. Mix and rub gently into the fish pieces.
  3. Cover and set aside in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. For best results, marinate for 2-3 hours.
  4. Now lightly grease and heat a nonstick pan / tava with 1.5 tsp oil.
  5. Take the semolina and spread it on a plate, add just a wee bit of salt and mix.
  6. Dust the fish pieces with the semolina, till well coated on both sides with the flour.
  7. Place on the heated tava, shallow fry.
  8. Fry on low heat until golden brown and done from both sides. You can drizzle a little oil from the sides when you flip and cook the fish pieces.
  9. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney or with fish curry / dal and rice.
